New Delhi: The Ministry of Minority Affairs has released a total of Rs. 46,431.50 lakhs to the states for implementation of the Multi-Sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) for Minority Concentration Districts (MCDs) till 15th of this month. This Flagship Programme of the UPA Government is being implemented in 90 MCDs spread over 20 States/UTs. Of this the maximum amount of Rs. 18,057.61 lakh has been released to Uttar Pradesh followed by Rs. 10,622.31 lakh released to Assam and Rs. 5,152.36 released to Bihar. However, the total amount earmarked for these 3 states is: Rs. 1,01,570 lakhs; Rs. 70,350 lakhs and Rs. 52,320 lakhs repectively. The amount released to the States depends on the soundness of the District Plan submitted by the concerned State Government to the Ministry of Minority Affairs. As of now the Ministry has approved 70 District Plans for a total amount of Rs. 1,36,791.1 lakhs.
